A tree commonly found in the coffee landscapes of the Colombian Andes. Its fruits attract a wide variety of fruit-eating birds, including peahens, blackbirds and tanagers. Its flowers attract insects that are consumed by insect-eating birds, but also small pollinators such as bees, butterflies, flies and mosquitoes.
